Every cover, generated from one design.
The Biblioteca Saavedra Fajardo is a free digital library of Hispanic political thought, run with the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. We built its Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL publishing CMS and migrated the collection into it; the book covers are generated by code from the design file, every title with the same finish.
Two pieces run it: the CMS and API in Ruby on Rails on PostgreSQL, where the library's own team publishes, and the public website at saavedrafajardo.org. A script reads the cover design file and builds each book's cover, so a new title takes the collection's finish without going back to design. We started on it in 2020.
