Braintube

YouTube automation for a kids' animation studio

> A project for Sunny Side Up Studios.

Kids' channels in five languages, run by background jobs.

Braintube runs the YouTube operation of Sunny Side Up Studios, a children's animation studio: episodes are pulled from Google Drive, joined into compilations and published on its channels in five languages, on schedule. We built it in Django and Python, on MySQL, MongoDB and Kubernetes.

Seven background job types do the work: downloading, joining clips, uploading, joining and uploading in one pass, livestreams, live broadcasts and monetisation. From its console the studio sees a calendar of uploads per channel, sets each video's metadata, thumbnail and time slot, marked Made for kids, and manages roles, playlists and format conversion.
