A podcast episode, turned into a YouTube video.
RSS.com is a podcast hosting and distribution platform. With an engineer embedded in its team, we worked on cleaning up episode audio, on the speech-to-text behind its transcription feature, and on PodViz, which turns an episode into a YouTube video keeping its chapters, titles and Podcasting 2.0 metadata.
Audio and video work is too heavy for a web request, so it runs as batch jobs on AWS: speech-to-text and transcript APIs, a transcoding service, a YouTube uploader, an embedded player and showcases for the cleaned-up audio. Processing is in Python, the front ends in Vue with TypeScript, and PodViz went out to podcasters in June 2023.
