Practising the moment to step in.
Immersive XR training for the ABLE Project (Active Bystandership for Law Enforcement) at Georgetown Law, which prepares police officers to step in when a colleague is about to cause harm. The scenes were captured with AI tools and real actors.
Each scenario is built as a case of its own: a police officer and a victim recreated as MetaHumans, their faces and bodies driven by motion capture of real actors, with lighting and camera tuned scene by scene. The first builds were tested in Washington DC in July 2023, and alongside them we researched text to XR, building an XR scene from a written description of it.
Capture
Real actors are recorded with facial and body motion capture.
Recreate
The officer and the victim become MetaHumans that carry that performance.
Light
Lighting and camera are tuned case by case, scene by scene.
Step in
Officers go through each case in XR and practise the moment to intervene.
Text to XR
Within ABLExR we researched text to XR: building an XR scene from a written description of it.
